Job Summary:
Our clients’ Ontario Line Property Acquisitions team is seeking a Senior Property Officer to support the acquisition and management of real estate for major transit infrastructure projects. This role will involve coordinating property acquisitions, negotiating with property owners, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success. The ideal candidate will have experience in property negotiations, acquisitions, and legal processes related to land use.
Job Description:
Support project teams in identifying and acquiring property for major transit infrastructure projects.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to secure land access and acquisitions.
Oversee the work of internal staff and external service providers on property appraisals, surveys, legal agreements, and other real estate documents.
Provide expert guidance on property cost estimates, potential risks, and mitigation strategies to support project goals.
Negotiate with property owners and oversee consultant contracts and fees.
Manage land acquisitions and expropriations in compliance with corporate policies and the Expropriations Act.
Collaborate with the Corporate Real Estate team on property management and maintenance.
Prepare and maintain property reports, briefing documents, and presentations for senior executives and client groups.
Requirements:
University degree in Land Use Planning, Urban Land Economics, Business Administration, Communications, Architecture, Law, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent education and experience).
Professional designations in Real Estate, Planning, or Project Management are an asset.
Experience in negotiations, property appraisals, and acquisitions within an infrastructure or transit project environment.
Knowledge of the Expropriations Act is an asset.
Strong understanding of real estate practices, land titles, commercial leasing, property appraisals, acquisitions, and dispositions.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
